Introduction

Connecting to the Palm network

You can connect to the Palm network using RPC API services offered by a commercial node provider (see options below) or via your own node service that you set up and maintain.

More specific information on running a node on Palm network is found on Self-hosted nodes.

Running your own Node vs Using a Node Provider

Running an Ethereum node can be challenging when you are trying to scale or get started quickly. There are services that run optimized node infrastructures that connect applications in just a few seconds with a single line of code so that you can focus on developing. Additionally, you can run your own node should you decide to help secure the network and take a more decentralized approach.

Running your Own Node

Pros

  • Privacy and Security
  • Reduced reliance on 3rd party servers
  • Censorship Resistance
  • Not subject to vendor API call rate limits or throttling

Cons

  • Requires DevOps expertise & time to set up, run and scale
  • Can require maintenance or outages, e.g. for upgrades
  • Consideration required for service failover in case of contingency

Using a Node Provider

Pros

  • Cost effective - save engineering time, money, and resources
  • Free up time - focus on product development
  • Scalability - easily scale your infrastructure

Cons

  • Some providers don’t offer full range of API methods
  • Reliance on third-party uptime SLAs - possibility for outages and problems
  • Dependent on provider’s customer service SLAs

Third Party API Providers

These providers support the Palm network and offer a range of free and paid plans depending on usage limits:
